Joint practices becoming more important than preseason games is a bit disorienting to an oldhead like myself, but I understand (and support!) the controlled environments that keep Caleb Williams and Joe Burrow safe.
But given that, maybe they should’ve televised Thursday’s practice and not Saturday night’s game? Or maybe somehow combine the two?

Bears and Bengals set for preseason game: Kickoff at Paycor Stadium is set for 6 pm on Saturday with Adam Amin, Stacey Dales and Jim Miller on the call for Fox 32. Out-of-market fans can watch on ChicagoBears.com or NFL+.
Joe Burrow and Bengals starters are OUT: No official word from Ben Johnson for the Bears starters, but no one should get their hopes up. Tyson Bagent and Kyle Monangai are definitely out after staying back in Chicago to rehab their injuries.
Bears made unsuccessful call on Vita Vea: That’s according to Jordan Schultz, who reported the interest shortly after the star DL agreed to end his holdout for a one-year extension with the Bucs worth $30 million. Acquiring Vea was always a longshot and maybe not a great idea at his age/money but now it’s officially over.

But it’s the reality we’re living in, so let’s dive into what reporters said about the Bears meeting the Bengals on Thursday.
Winners
Jaylon Johnson CB1 is set for a busy season going up against some of the NFL’s best WRs, so it’s a good thing he got some reps against Ja’Marr Chase. He reportedly performed well too, deflecting a Joe Burrow pass into the arms of teammate Devin Bush for an interception. “Real good corner,” Chase told the Sun-Times. “Pretty aggressive on a couple of plays.”
