Good morning, Bears fans!
Have you put the Green Bay loss and all the Tyson Bagent shade behind you yet? It’s been a rough couple of days out there on the Bears Internet.
HEADLINES
Montez Sweat suspended for two games
The highest-paid player on the defense will miss the Atlanta and New England games. More on Tuesday’s surprise news below.
Shemar Turner activated to 53-man roster
And not a moment too soon. The defensive lineman is finally back after tearing his ACL during his rookie season last October.
No official word on Caleb Williams’ comeback
Though he did post “I’m inevitable” to his Instagram bio and change his avatar to John Wick. We continue to wait, but that would seemingly bode well for Sunday in Atlanta.
Bears alter practice schedule
Just a walk-through today, so no open locker room and no media session with the starting quarterback. First practice and everything that comes with it will happen on Thursday.

THE BIG ITEM
Sweat Suspension Fallout

So Montez Sweat will miss the Atlanta and New England games, thanks to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy. The next time we’ll likely see him is a Monday night in Seattle.
The NFL doesn’t disclose details surrounding PED suspensions, but the short nature of the penalty means it’s likely for a diuretic or masking agent detected in the drug test.
For Sweat, the failed test is a costly one to his wallet. He will forfeit both game checks to the tune of $2.23 million. Spotrac also reports his 2026 and 2027 salaries are no longer guaranteed.
Sweat’s numbers haven’t been stellar in 2026 so far. He didn’t have a sack, tackle, hurry or hit in Green Bay and his season totals are two sacks, seven tackles and four quarterback hits.
The Bears will still miss him, though. He just took 43 snaps against the Packers — 70 percent of the plays — and the Bears could also be without Dayo Odeyingbo, who injured his quad on Sunday.
The Bears defense can’t really afford the potential disappointment that will come from expecting something Shemar Turner, James Lynch or Jamree Kromah. (Though all of these guys just got a great opportunity to show what they’ve got.)
That’s what makes Sweat’s positive test a disappointing one. At $25 million, Sweat is paid to solve problems, not create more of them.
He’ll have a lot to make up for once he returns to the lineup.
