Good morning, Bears fans!
Well that was a fun week of looking at the Bears draft class and learning about all the Vanilla Gorillas in sports history.
Before we turn the page and our attention toward the Halas Hall practice field in May, let’s see what the experts are forecasting for the Bears in the 2027 draft.
— Kevin Kaduk

01 NFL Draft
Bears considered trading up
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler: The front office like Tennessee CB Colton Hood enough that they weighed trading up in the second round to take him. But Dillon Thieneman’s unexpected availability changed that and Hood went to the Giants at No. 37.
02 NFL Draft
Vikes favorite to host in ‘28
The NFL Draft at US Bank Stadium would make the NFC North the second division to have all four teams host the draft. Can you name the first, which is scheduled to complete itself next year? (Answer in links)
03 NFL Draft
No compensatory picks in ‘27
The Bears aren’t projected for any compensatory picks next year, according to NFL.com’s Dan Barr. The Packers are slated for four (one in each round from 3-6)

Who’s Being Mocked To The Bears In 2027?
One of my favorite sports media things is that you can’t publish a way-too-early NFL Mock Draft without putting “way too early” in the headline.
It’s as if those three words provide absolution for conducting such an ridiculous exercise, but I have to admit they actually might! What else would give the experts license to keep writing them … or us an excuse to keep reading them?
The good news: Almost every 2027 mock this week had the Bears taking help in the trenches during a first-round that’s being widely anticipated because of its potential star talent.
The bad news: None of the experts had the Bears picking lower than 19th, which would mean either an early playoff exit or none at all.
To be fair, most of the experts were picking in the reverse order of Super Bowl odds, which mean about as much as a 2027 mock draft on May 1, 2026.
Nevertheless, it’s still good to familiarize ourselves with some of the names that might be around for the Bears, no matter where they end up.
Here are the players currently being mocked to the Bears:
ESPN | 16. Ahmad Moten Sr. — Miami DT
“He has quick and powerful hands to swipe away interior blockers and is a stout run defender who can stand his ground in gaps … he could be the Grady Jarrett heir apparent in Chicago.” — Jordan Reid
The Athletic | 18. Kelley Jones — Miss. State CB
“Listed at 6-4, Jones has rare speed and ability for a player his size, which will draw obvious attention from NFL teams.” — Dane Brugler
CBS Sports | 17. Matayo Uiagalelei — Oregon EDGE
“The younger brother of DJ Uiagalelei, Matayo has carved out his own path in Eugene as one of the most talented pass rushers in the country … While his motor can run hot and cold, the talent is undeniable.” — Cooper Petagna
Bengal | 18. Quincy Rhodes — Arkansas EDGE
“I thought he could’ve been a first-round pick this year.” — Bengal
McShay | 17. Quincy Rhodes — Arkansas EDGE
“Rhodes fits the mold Allen covets at 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds” — Todd McShay
NFL Trade Rumors | 18. Jordan Seaton — LSU OT
“A ridiculous athlete, Seaton erases pass rushers one-on-one. He moves fluidly on an island with long arms to dissuade rushers and the awareness to shut off counters and stunts.” — Ethan Woodie
